The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) prepares students for university education in a country of their choice. The programme is a pre-university qualification recognized by universities in more than 140 countries, and opens the doors to the best universities in the world.
At Eerde we teach the English IBDP curriculum. We also support students wanting to study their mother tongue as part of the programme.
An academically challenging and well-balanced program, the IBDP aims to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring individuals who are motivated to succeed.
Our program strives to develop students who will build a better world through intercultural understanding and respect, and to prepare students to effectively participate in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society.
What makes an IB student unique?
The question was asked by the IBDP organization on its 50th anniversary back in 2006. The answer is just as relevant today: ‘The IB learner profile encourages students to become inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective.’
The IBDP at Eerde International Boarding School is designed to set students upon the path to becoming responsible young adults who embody this IB Learner Profile.
Coaching for living and learning
In these exciting formative years our learning coaches support you in meeting the rigorous academic demands of IBDP. Life coaches are also on hand to help with planning and finding the right balance between work and play. In the Creative, Active and Service elements of the programme, you take on physical challenges, express your creativity and engage closely with the local community.
Prepare for university education
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) prepares students for university education in a country of their choice.
The programme is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities, and evidence shows that higher rates of DP students go on to university and other institutions of higher education than non-IB students.
Our university counsellor provides additional support and assistance in the applications process if you need it and encourages you to explore your university options either online or by visiting open days and academic recruitment fairs.
My IBDP diploma sets me up for a great career. And it’s great to do something in return. I loved our project to raise money for a guide dog for the blind.
The castle and the forest are beautiful but it’s the people that make Eerde what it is. I was very happy there. I’m now studying Archaeology and Classical Studies at the University of Reading.
